Stop the drilling in the Amazon

Brazil's National Indigenous Foundation (Funai), and the Brazilian Government:

We, citizens of the world, urge you to demarcate the Mura Indigenous land in the Autazes region ahead of Brazil Potash's plans to drill in the Amazon. We are deeply concerned with the impacts that the drilling may have on the delicate ecosystems, fresh water and rivers, and the lives and livelihoods of the People who have called this land home for centuries.

Stop the drilling in the Amazon
For centuries, the Mura Indigenous people have called the Amazon their home. Now, their right to live undisturbed on their territory is under threat by a mining company and the Canadian investment bank backing it.

Potassio do Brasil (Brazil Potash) is pushing to build a massive strip mining operation in the Autazes region - the gateway to the Amazon. They have been doing everything they can to push the Mura out of the way: alleged bribery, threats and intimidation.

But we can do something. Mounting evidence appears to show the proposed mine sits on Mura lands, meaning that by law the company should be barred from drilling - but Brazil’s National Indigenous People Foundation is dragging its feet on demarcating the lands!

Powerful interests hope that the world continues to look the other way on this - but we will not ignore this injustice! Sign now and when the call is massive, we will demand that Brazil demarcate Mura Indigenous lands now!
